Houseology Interior Design Travel Scholarship 2016 – Judging Panel announced
(PRWEB UK) 29 April 2016 -- Bridging the gap between education and commerce in Interior Design, the inaugural Houseology Travel Scholarship is a unique design competition offering one student the opportunity to win a £4,000 Travel Scholarship.
"We're delighted to introduce our distinguished judging panel of creative professionals for the inaugural Scholarship” says Kate Mooney, Founder & CEO of Houseology.com “and thrilled that we've brought together such a highly respected collective of design leaders, who know what it takes to be successful in this industry and can help shape the careers of its students”
The impressive line-up of design influencers includes:
Susie Rumbold
President Elect of the BIID, as well as Founder and Creative Director of Tessuto Design Studio. Her practice specialises in both the design of large residential developments for the sales and private rental sectors and luxury homes for private clients.
Christopher Ball
Director of Architecture & Design, UK&I at IHG. Passionate about hotel design, Christopher is fascinated by the flow and connection of spaces within a property and how these areas are brought to life for hotel guests.
Patrick Macklin
Head of the Interior Design Department and Programme Leader at Glasgow School of Art. His main research interests are centred on the interior and the nature, quality and value of place in primarily urban contexts.
Kaye Newman
Head of Interiors at London Metropolitan University, has a wide breadth and depth of interior knowledge gained from her academic and professional career, underpinned by her particular interest in the field of spatial happiness and interior wellbeing.
Gareth Payne
Head of Interior Design at Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio. The studio delivers high concept interiors, large scale installations and architectural design from Tom Dixon, expressing a strong narrative with a dose of Britishness and eccentricity.
Henrietta Thompson
Editor-at-Large of Wallpaper* magazine and writes about architecture, art and design for several publications worldwide. She is the author of five books and is passionate about design that has meaning, rather than being purely decorative.
Kate Mooney
Founder and CEO of the digital design platform, Houseology.com and Founder of Occa-Design, the award-winning design consultancy specialising in hotels and leisure projects for global hotel brands.
“The Travel Scholarship was set up to recognise and reward outstanding young interior designers and offer them the opportunity to win a £4,000 Travel Scholarship to travel the world, gain invaluable experience and meet an unrivalled network of industry contacts” says Kate “The main award takes the winner behind-the-scenes at some of the world’s leading design brands that would ordinarily be out of their reach.”
One runner-up will also experience a summer internship in Houseology’s architectural and interior design practice working on exciting projects for global hotel groups and independent boutique properties. “This is a fantastic initiative and could be a life changing opportunity for the winning students” notes Kaye Newman Head of Interiors at London Met.“
The upload deadline for submissions, which will be made on the Houseology website, is Monday 3rd June 2016. A short-list of twelve finalists will be invited to an intimate awards supper in London, during which the winner will be announced and they will be given the opportunity to personally meet and network with the judging panel and leading figures in interior design, on the 27th of June 2016.
