The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was first held in 1931 and is currently held at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. The fair is also known as RodeoHouston or HLSR and is the largest live entertainment and livestock show in the world. In the past, such entertainment acts as Garth Brooks, Selena, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Lady Antebellum, ZZ Top, Jonas Brothers, The Black Eyed Peas, Justin Bieber, Janet Jackson, KISS, Train, Blake Shelton, Styx, Pitbull and George Strait have played a concert for their fans during the event. The 2014 concert series features many of the most popular country acts in the world today including Brad Paisley, Eli Young Band, Jason Aldean, Jake Owen, Hunter Hayes, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Zac Brown Band. Fans of bands like Maroon 5, REO Speedwagon and artists like Usher and Robin Thicke will also have a chance to catch these acts at the rodeo.
The total attendance for the 2013 festival totaled a record-high 2,506,238 fans, as well as more than 28,000 volunteers. The festival will begin with a Downtown Rodeo Roundup near city hall, plus a Downtown Rodeo parade, a 5k or 10k ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run and the World’s Championships Bar-B-Que contest. Among the various festivities attendees can take part in aside from the rodeo and concerts are livestock competitions, carnival, pig racing, international wine competition, sales, shopping and livestock auctions.
Tickets for each night of RodeoHouston music will go on sale to the general public on Saturday January 18, 2014. Fans looking to spend three weeks in Houston for every night of rodeo action and entertainment can also purchase season tickets which will gain them access to the fair each night for all the festivities and music.
