How Time Flies: Journyx Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary
AUSTIN, TEXAS (PRWEB) December 20, 2016 -- Journyx marks a major milestone today, as the time and expense tracking software company celebrates 20 years in business.
Journyx was founded on December 20,1996 in Austin, Texas, by Curt Finch, who continues to lead the company as CEO. Finch started Journyx with no money, investors or partners – only an idea. Finch believed that using time-tracking data to determine project profitability was a winning idea and something that companies were not doing – yet. Finch created the world's first web-based timesheet application and the foundation for the current Journyx product offerings in 1997.
The Story of Journyx
Finch founded Journyx as a result of his experiences leading project and product development teams at IBM and The Kernel Group. "We were fixing bugs in the AIX operating system at a flat rate per bug, and we came to realize, by tracking our time spent on fixing each bug, that some bugs were more profitable than others," said Finch. "In short, this information allowed us to pick tactical directions for the company and gave us a leg up on the competition."
Finch soon realized that there was a real need for companies to achieve the same results by tracking time on projects. "If you don’t know how profitable your projects are, you're flying blind – and the only way you'll know that is by tracking time," advises Finch. "Time is the most precious commodity we have, and I founded Journyx on the premise that it should be invested wisely."
Ten years after founding Journyx, Curt funneled his experiences from and knowledge of project accounting and profitability into his book, All Your Money Won't Another Minute Buy: Valuing Time as a Business Resource, which covers the many reasons why time tracking is a must for companies of all sizes.
A (Brief) History of Journyx's Products
Journyx’s first product, Timesheet, is used by thousands of customers to track time for payroll, billing and cost accounting. While the name "Timesheet" is no longer used, the flagship Journyx time and expense tracking software still provides the same base timesheet and expense management solution that enables organizations to automate management of employee time and expenses. It has added many new features over the years (including a facelift to its user interface earlier this year), and is currently on version 10.1.
In the past 20 years, Journyx has also developed:
• ProjectXecute (now known as Journyx PX): A cross-project resource management solution.
• Accountlink: A bi-directional interface that transfers time and expense data between Journyx and accounting platforms, such as QuickBooks® and Microsoft® Dynamics™ (including GP and NAV).
• Projectlink: An integration between Journyx and Microsoft® Project or Project Server.
• Reportlink: A solution that dynamically syncs Microsoft® Excel™ with Journyx data and creates graphically rich reports.

Finch describes the last 20 years as "educational," especially with the growth of the time tracking software market and how technology has changed so much over the years.
