HowStuffWorks Answers Life’s Most Absurd Questions with New Podcast Part-Time Genius
ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) June 07, 2017 -- Will we ever live without sleep? Why have rats outsmarted us for so long? Is cryonics for real? Self-proclaimed part-time geniuses Will Pearson & Mangesh Hattikudur answer these questions and more as the hosts of HowStuffWorks’ newest podcast series Part-Time Genius, which debuts today with its first four episodes. Featuring new game show style elements, the podcast dives headfirst into seemingly absurd topics, collecting memorable facts, uncovering secret histories and tapping the brains of nerd celebrities, in pursuit of genuine answers.
“Part-Time Genius zeroes in on questions that might sound ridiculous at first. But when you actually take the time to mull them over, they always have these rich and rewarding answers. In many ways, these shows are a throwback to our late-night dorm room conversations. Only this time we’re chatting with experts and quizzing our favorite nerd heroes to deliver something even more wonderful,” said Will Pearson, co-host of Part-Time Genius.
Mangesh Hattikudur, Part-Time Genius co-host added: “The show won’t make you an expert, but if you haven’t learned something hilarious and fun after spending a few minutes with us, we haven’t done our job.”
Part-Time Genius features guests like YouTube sensation Simone Giertz, Saturday Night Live’s Streeter Seidell, best-selling author John Green and more. In each episode, guests will compete for the coveted Part-Time Genius Award: a handwritten note of praise from Will & Mangesh addressed to the winner’s mom or boss. New episodes will be available every Wednesday and Friday, starting with the following questions:
- Episodes 1-4 (June 7): Will we ever live without sleep?; Why have rats outsmarted us for so long?; Is cryonics real?; What are the sunniest places to hide my taxes?
- Episode 5 (June 14): How clean should we be?
- Episode 6 (June 16): How did Ayn Rand become a political superstar?
- Episode 7 (June 21): Can we create the most world's most badass animal?
- Episode 8 (June 23): How did the Boy Scouts conquer America?

“Our overall podcast library demonstrates that there’s a huge audience of curious people in the world seeking creative, off-beat and playful content,” said HowStuffWorks’ Chief Content Officer Jason Hoch. “Will and Mangesh are a perfect example of the creative geniuses we’re looking for as we continue to build out our talent roster.”
Before joining HowStuffWorks, Will and Mangesh co-founded Mental Floss. The launch of Part-Time Genius comes shortly after their addition to the team, and is the 14th podcast brand in the HowStuffWorks network, joining the ranks of notable shows like Stuff You Should Know, Stuff Mom Never Told You and Stuff You Missed in History Class.
