HR Open Standards Consortium Initiates Global Payroll Project to Simplify Integrations with Global JSON Standard
DENVER, CO (PRWEB) December 14, 2016 -- HR Open Standards Consortium has launched a new standards development project to expand its suite of HR-JSON data exchange standards. The newly formed work group began meeting in early November and is committed to the collaborative task of creating a JSON Payroll specification to simplify payroll-related data exchanges.
Due to many employers choosing to outsource their HR and payroll functions as well as new innovative benefit program offerings, an increasing number of parties are involved in the transmission of payroll data than have ever been in the past. As employers adapt to legislative changes and prepare for the future landscape of workforce management, navigating the complexities of employee payroll will continue to present substantial compliance and implementation challenges.
The HR Open Standards Payroll project will introduce a lightweight JSON specification as an addition to the consortium's existing XML Payroll standard. The JSON Payroll specification expects to standardize the collection of employee information such as wages, hours worked, deductions, and other compensation-related data as it is processed to generate employee paychecks, process deposits, and report filings related to country, regional, and local taxes. In addition to the XML and JSON data models, the project will deliver well-documented use cases, schema diagrams, and a glossary of terms.
"As more organizations are looking for global, cloud-based HRIS and payroll services, we see the need to have a strong payroll data standard," notes Dave Garret, Payroll Exchange Product Manager at NGA Human Resources. "We are eager to lead alongside the industry experts involved in the HR Open Standards Payroll project."
The project represents international and U.S.-based collaborators from more than 8 companies, payroll processors and HR vendors alike. Consortium members leading the development project include ADP, Easy Clocking, HR2B, Insperity, Manus Global, NGA Human Resources, Paycor, Talentia, and Verdu. Project sponsors include ADP, Insperity, and NGA Human Resources.
