HS-UK installs Allegra 500 microscopes at the RCS
Harlow, Essex (PRWEB UK) 18 December 2015 -- Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK), the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard optometry and ophthalmic equipment, is pleased to announce that the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) has purchased two Allegra 500 microscopes for use in their state-of-the-art training facilities.
Based in London, the RCS is a professional membership organisation and registered charity which exists to advance surgical standards and improve patient care. With 20,000 members in the UK and internationally, the College equips surgeons with the skills they need throughout their career, delivered through an extensive programme of exams and courses.
Both microscopes have been installed at the Wolfson Surgical Skills Centre, one of the UK’s largest cadaveric facilities. The Allegra 500 microscope has multiple functions and features that made it ideal for use in the training courses at the RCS. For example, it has exceptional optical clarity at any depth perception and also features a 25mm stereo base for enhanced 3D vision. The microscope is also very user-friendly and intuitive.
The permanent balancing reduces the set-up time needed and electro-magnetic brakes allow a precise, soft movement. Motorised braking of the microscope is available in every axis and the flexibility of the microscope head has a lateral tilt of +/- 45° and an inclination angle of -30° to +120°. This allows deep cavities to be illuminated and examined, which is vital in spinal surgery.
The microscope also boasts a high-definition camera and flat screen monitor, ensuring that the course participants can clearly observe what is happening under the microscope.
Steve Derham, HS-UK Product Manager, said, “I am delighted we have been able to work with the RCS and install these microscopes at the College’s modern education and training facilities. I am looking forward to working closely with the staff to provide on-going support and training. The Allegra 500 microscope is ideal for use in spinal and ENT surgery, so will be perfect for use in many of the courses the College delivers.”
