HS-UK sponsors glaucoma-based study to win UKC award for Best Biomedical Engineering Project
Harlow, Essex (PRWEB UK) 29 July 2013 -- Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK), the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard optometry and ophthalmic equipment, is proud to have recently sponsored the prize for ‘Best Biomedical Engineering Project’ at the University of Kent, Canterbury (UKC).
Dean Johnson, HS-UK Managing Director, joined UKC engineering graduates at their awards ceremony on Thursday 18th July 2013, where he presented the Haag-Streit UK-sponsored prize to Martin Henderson, who attended the School of Engineering and Digital Arts.
Martin’s award-winning project researched the potential for modernising tonometry techniques to aid in the diagnosis of glaucoma.
“I am absolutely delighted to have won the award. It was exciting to work on a Haag-Streit UK-funded project, and for my research to potentially help bring a new product to market”, Martin commented.
Dean Johnson, HS-UK Managing Director, remarked, “I was glad to hear that Martin will be staying on at UKC to work towards a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. Martin and his fellow graduates, are a talented group of engineers, who have a bright and rewarding future ahead of them, in both industry and academia.”
Martin, who graduated from UKC with a first class honours bachelor of engineering degree in Computer System Engineering, also won the IET Prize for ‘Distinction by a Final Year Student’ on an IET accredited course.
