Huck Finn Draws Record-Breaking Crowds in 2014
Ontario, CA (PRWEB) June 18, 2014 -- Attendance at this year’s Huck Finn Jubilee exceeded any other year in its 38-year history with a bigger and broader lineup of performers that included the legendary Dr. Ralph Stanley and The String Cheese Incident, organizers announced today.
This year’s festival took the event into a new dimension with an expansive scope of headline performers that traced bluegrass from its early roots to its current influences among jam band performers. Appealing to a broader audience, it attracted a diverse mix of music fans of all ages, bringing in an economic impact of $5.6 million to the Greater Ontario region in enhanced sales at area hotels, restaurants and businesses. More than 30,000 people attended the festival over three days this Father’s Day weekend, with Saturday being the biggest draw at more than 12,000 people. Visitors booked 1,123 rooms at area hotels through the Huck Finn website’s online booking service alone.
Attendance was more than double that of previous years.
“There’s no question that this year’s festival put Huck Finn on the map of the nation’s major music festivals,” said Michael Krouse, President and CEO of the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau, which assumed ownership of the festival this year. “We brought in some of the biggest names in bluegrass and jam bands. We are really excited with the success of this year’s event, and looking forward to making Huck Finn even bigger and better next year.”
Visitors enjoyed the ability to spend all weekend surrounded by good music and fun.
“Pool with slides, paddle-boating, camping by the lake with friendly neighbors, workshops, clean showers, wonderful vendors, oh, and line-dancing,” said Michele Jackson in a comment on the Huck Finn Facebook page. “Last but not least, the friendly staff. Huck Finn Jubilee is a Father’s Day weekend celebration, featuring three days of music, jamming, camping, fishing and family fun along the lake of Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park in Ontario. In addition to Stanley and The String Cheese Incident, this year’s performers included Grammy winners and top names in the industry including The Del McCoury Band, Rhonda Vincent, Sam Bush, The Gibson Brothers Keller and Williams, Chris Jones and more.
