Denver, CO (PRWEB) June 27, 2016 -- zSpace and Visible Body today unveiled a new software offering for zSpace’s all-in-one screen VR (virtual reality) solution at ISTE 2016, June 26 - 29, at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Now hundreds of thousands of students learning with zSpace can access Visible Body’s award-winning, 3D atlas of the male and female human body, Human Anatomy Atlas.
Visible Body’s application, Human Anatomy Atlas, its best-selling human anatomy general reference learning tool used to explore the systems of the human body, is now available in zSpace. Through the power of zSpace immersive virtual reality, students can dissect, manipulate and explore virtual models of the human anatomy as if they were holding them in their hands. “Visible Body’s Human Anatomy Atlas shows the layers of anatomy in a way that is traditionally only seen when dissecting a real cadaver - and even then, it is difficult to see the full integration of human body tissues,” said, Joell Russell, Human Physiology Science Department Chair at Tracy Unified School District. ”The graphics on zSpace are so realistic, our students want to reach out and grab them! What I like most is that it incorporates virtual reality but still allows student partners to interact and engage - turning what is typically an individual platform into a social learning environment and stimulating inquiry.”
Human Anatomy Atlas on zSpace also allows users to map and pin detail origin and insertion points for muscles or reference text that details features of bony landmarks. 3D models also include encyclopedic reference information, such as structure name, Latin name, and anatomical grouping, detailed definitions and pronunciations, descriptions of common injuries, diseases, and pathologies, available in seven different languages.
"We are all so excited about the potential of this partnership to reinvent human biology education in a way that will thrill today's learners," said Andrew Bowditch, CEO at Visible Body. "When we looked at the developing virtual reality solutions available to our customers, the zSpace experience was an immediate fit. Go into an anatomy lab and you’ll see groups of students, gathered around a table, and studying a cadaver or a prosection to learn certain structures. zSpace with Visible Body’s highly accurate 3D anatomy models is a natural fit. It’s a great virtual anatomy solution for schools or universities transitioning their anatomy lab from animal specimens to a virtual anatomy lab, and for institutions adding technology solutions to their cadaver labs to increase the amount of time students have in the lab and the number of labs that can be done."
Atlas contains more than 4,600 anatomical structures, including all major organs and systems of the male and female bodies and over 1,200 quiz questions in one easy-to-use package. This application is used by healthcare professionals, patients, students, and others interested in detailed visualization of human anatomy.
“Creating a simple user interface with a natural, intuitive way to rotate, zoom, and scale the anatomical models was an important design element,” said Paul Kellenberger, zSpace CEO. “Teachers and students love the ability to project their research findings to the class in augmented reality - all while interacting with entire body systems, groups, and individual structures in real time. It is obvious that Atlas is created by experts in anatomy visualization and backed by healthcare professionals.”
