Huntington and Smithtown Fit Body Boot Camp Launch “Pound for Dollar” Fitness Challenge to Raise Money for Local Suffolk County Firefighter’s Burn Center Fund
Huntington, NY (PRWEB) January 14, 2014 -- When Huntington and Smithtown Fit Body Boot Camp owners, Kathy and Ahmed Tafti, hosted a fundraiser in 2012 to raise money for the Burn Center at Stony Brook University Hospital, it was a huge success. With the help of many local volunteer firefighters and Fit Body Boot Camp members, the Taftis were able to get the word out and get people to participate in donating to the center.
Now, with the hopes of reaching the same amount of success for the Suffolk County Firefighter’s Burn Center Fund, Huntington and Smithtown Fit Body Boot Camp announce the launch of a 21-day “Pound for Dollar” fitness challenge starting on January 27th, 2014.
Kathy Tafti explains, “This year we are going to fundraise and donate to the Suffolk County Firefighter’s Burn Center Fund because we feel that the burn center is so important in helping victims right here on Long Island and we are so grateful for all the men and women firefighters who volunteer and risk their lives every day to keep us safe.”
The fee to participate in Fit Body Boot Camp’s “Pound for Dollar” Challenge is $67 and all proceeds collected will go towards the charity as well as $1 for every pound and percentage of body fat that a participating member loses during the 21-day fitness program.
“We want to raise a lot of money so we are opening it up to all of the fire houses on Long Island and NYC to get them in on the challenge. Whether they are members of our studio or not, we want to challenge them to get healthy, lose weight and body fat, and raise money for an amazing cause. So for every firefighter who sheds pounds and body fat we will also donate on their behalf,” says Kathy.
Fit Body Boot Camp makes an effort to support a charity every month and has named the Suffolk County Firefighter’s Burn Center Fund the their Charity of the Month for January and February 2014. Hoping for a great turnout, the Taftis have partnered up with Butch Nieves, owner of Fit Body Boot Camp in the Bronx, Westchester, and Port Chester, and Kate Vidulich, owner of Long Island City Fit Body Boot Camp in Queens, NY.
