HySpecIQ Successfully Completes System Requirements Review (SRR) and System Design Review (SDR)
Washington, DC (PRWEB) January 27, 2015 -- Today, HySpecIQ announced the successful completion of the System Requirements Review (SRR) and System Design Review (SDR) for its commercial high resolution hyperspectral satellite system. The SRR examines the system’s functional and performance requirements, preliminary program plan and concept to ensure that they will satisfy the system’s mission. The SDR examines the proposed system architecture/design and the flow down of requirements to the system’s functional elements. These milestones, which were completed on schedule, mark significant progress as HySpecIQ advances towards the anticipated launch of its initial two satellite constellation in approximately three years.
Bill Schuster, HySpecIQ’s Chief Operating Officer said, “This is an important accomplishment for the team and serves as the foundation upon which the remainder of the program will be built. It provides both confidence in the strength of the team, and that the system being built is suitable to meet the rigorous demands of the valuable missions it will support.”
The HySpecIQ hyperspectral system will be able to determine the material composition of objects and vegetation based on their unique reflectance signature with unmatched accuracy using bands which are an order of magnitude sharper than the current state of the art. These unique “fingerprints” provide material identification and precise target intelligence for locating oil/gas or mineral rich deposits, tracking agricultural yields/GMOs, or locating items of interest for the Department of Defense and intelligence community.
The HySpecIQ system is being developed under a fixed-price contract by a unit of The Boeing Company, Boeing Defense, Space & Security which is one of the world's largest defense, space and security businesses specializing in innovative and capabilities-driven customer solutions, and the world’s largest and most versatile manufacturer of military aircraft. Headquartered in St. Louis, Boeing Defense, Space & Security is a $33 billion business with 56,000 employees worldwide. The HyspecIQ system utilizes the midclass of the 502 Phoenix product line.
Tom Russell, Boeing’s Hyperspectral Remote Sensing Program Manager said, “This requirements review verifies that we have developed an end to end system architecture and associated requirements that will provide web based ordering, automated tasking of imagery via Boeing developed ground system, user specified image analysis with the ability to provide end user data products, all through what will ultimately be a “lights out” automated operation model. This accomplishment and the fact that the program is built upon Boeing’s highly capable Boeing midclass bus within the 502Phoenix product line and proven imaging technologies, proves not only that we’re off to a good start, but helps to ensure the ultimate success of the program.”
HySpecIQ is a new commercial company which will expand the availability and quality of hyperspectral information to customers and increase its value through advanced analytics and mission focused information products. The financing of this activity is being done exclusively through commercial means. The company has completed its series-A round and is currently engaged in its next round of financing. In addition to financing, HySpecIQ oversees the development program, develops the tools and analytic processes and leads customer engagement in the non-national security markets; including Energy, Mining, Agriculture, Insurance and other.
HySpecIQ is headquartered in the Washington, DC metro area.
