Hyundai Motor America Announces its Latest STEM Math Grant Award to Benefit 20 Schools in the Oakland Unified School District
Fountain Valley, CA (PRWEB) April 24, 2017 -- On April 25, 2017, Hyundai Motor America and the MIND Research Institute announces that a $300,000 grant has been awarded to the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) schools, that will allow 20 schools to experience the transformative power of ST Math.
As part of Hyundai’s commitment to better and the ongoing efforts to support STEM education, Hyundai has invested over $2.0 million since 2011 in its efforts to improve academic success in STEM fields by funding this math program at schools nationwide. With this latest donation to Oakland Unified School District, the program will allow for more than 20 additional K-6 schools to join the program. OUSD joins Hyundai funded schools in East Los Angeles, CA, Fountain Valley, CA, New York City, NY, Philadelphia, PA, Pinellas, FL, Spring, TX and Washington, D.C. as part of the ST Math Initiative.
The Hyundai ST Math Initiative (Hyundai Math Labs) was launched in 2011 in partnership with The MIND Research Institute, a leading educational resource organization. It brings the research-proven ST Math® program developed by MIND to thousands of students across the country. The goal of the Hyundai effort is to help increase math proficiency and educational outcomes. Research shows that early math skill proficiency is proven to be a leading predictor of later academic success.
The Hyundai-Mind ST Math Initiative provides students with a stimulating and different approach to education to cultivate a deeper and more personalized learning. “Academic advancement, particularly in the STEM fields is of critical importance in today’s economy and we’re pleased to continue to offer this proven program to students that will greatly benefit from it. At Hyundai, our vision is to be a better company. Better with our products and services, better with our employees, better for our customers, and better in helping society,” says Jerry Flannery, President and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. “This act of better supports students in society through this innovative program to ensure all students are prepared for success.”
The Hyundai ST Math Initiative is led by an advisory board made up of Hyundai and MIND executives. STEM education is part of Hyundai’s larger CSR strategy, which consists of four pillars: children’s health (pediatric cancer), education, volunteerism and arts & culture.
