ICE Foundation Announces College Scholarship Availability for Children of ICE Employees
McLean, Virginia (PRWEB) June 15, 2014 -- The ICE Foundation, established in 2009 to support the men and women of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), is now taking applications online at http://www.scholarsapply.org/ice-legacy/ from eligible family members for the ICE Legacy Scholarship Program implemented to assist children of ICE employees seeking post-high school educational opportunities.
“We often hear about the sacrifices made by the men and women who serve in law enforcement, but the real sacrifices are often made by the children who have to deal with a parent being on call 24/7, working long hours and missing birthdays and holidays,” said James Dinkins, former Executive Associate Director of ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations. “I applaud the ICE Foundation for these scholarships that reward the real heroes of law enforcement and thank the many benefactors who have helped turn this program from concept into reality.”

Scholarship awards will be in the amount of $2,500 each. Eligibility criteria mandates that applicants are a high school senior and dependent child of a full time ICE employee with a minimum of five years of employment with the Agency. Applicants must also plan to enroll in full time undergraduate study at an accredited two or four-year college, and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent.
The program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.
The ICE Foundation is a not-for profit organization created to honor and support the contributions of the more than 20,000 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency employees stationed in over 400 offices in the US and 46 foreign countries.
