Ideas That Evoke and Social Media Day Madison Attendees Raise $5,000 for Porchlight
Madison, Wisconsin (PRWEB) July 14, 2016 -- Ideas That Evoke, local activists and social media enthusiasts demonstrated how digital buzz can turn into tangible community change by raising $5,000 for local non-profit Porchlight at the Social Media Day Madison benefit held at Lucille, 101 King Street.
As the local sponsor of Social Media Day Madison, Ideas That Evoke, a Madison-based social media and public relations agency that manages social communities for global and domestic salon-professional, lifestyle and luxury brands, developed the event to showcase the power of social media to influence positive change in the community.
Ideas That Evoke partnered with Porchlight, a Madison-based non-profit that works to decrease homelessness in the community, to host the benefit, which raised critical funds needed for new sleeping mattresses at Porchlight’s men’s Madison-area homeless shelter. More than 200 people from across the Madison community attended the event, and Ideas That Evoke and attendees successfully met their fundraising goal of $5,000.
“As the local champions of #SMDayMadison, the Ideas That Evoke team wanted to take this initiative to the next level this year, and hitting our fundraising goal for Porchlight shows what social media and our community is capable of,” said Kelly Ehlers, President of Ideas That Evoke. “The passion at #SMDayMadison for creating tangible positive change in the Madison community made the event an incredible success.”
“The Ideas That Evoke team is grateful for the support of Madison’s engaged community in raising awareness and critical funds for Porchlight and an inspiring cause that impacts so many people in Madison.”
Each year in Madison more than 3,500 people experience homelessness. Porchlight provides relief to these individuals by providing emergency shelter, housing and various other community-based support services.
“Support from community members not only gives Porchlight the critical funding to help eliminate homelessness in Madison, but also provides a meaningful way to raise awareness about the issue locally,” said Steven Schooler, Executive Director of Porchlight. “We are so thankful for all the support, and this campaign has helped give Porchlight a blueprint for sustainable fundraising campaigns through social media and digital platforms that we can utilize into the future.”
More than a dozen Madison businesses also contributed to the event, they include: Ground Zero Coffee, Jamerica, Lazy Jane’s Café and Bakery, Creative Energy Designs, Inc., Sencha Tea Bar, Vom Fass, Sunroom Café, Bahn Thai Restaurant, Change Fair Trade Fashion Boutique, Square Wine Co., The Coopers Tavern, Espresso Royale, Screen Door Studio and Fontana Sports.
