(PRWEB) October 14, 2013 -- While many books have been written on the subject of vision to the Christian audience, this book brings a freshness and simplicity that rivals most books out there. Written in a very down to earth manner, the principles in this book are relevant to the church world, as well as to those outside its borders.
The twins’ latest book, The Vision Guided Life: God's Strategy for Fulfilling Your Destiny has twenty-eight chapters, and is a 148 page must read.
The book also has a "28 Day Group Exercise" which is ideal for Bible study groups, Bible colleges, and leadership training. The 28 Day Group Exercise was developed by the twins to help individuals, home groups, cell groups, and churches begin a month long discussion on vision.
The free standalone 28 day plan is divided into four weeks. This free plan can be downloaded at VisionGuidedLife.com.
This plan is based on seven sections from their book, The Vision Guided Life. Each section has a series of thought provoking questions that help the participants to actively explore this subject with great depth.
For the month of October, the twins have started a 28 Days of Vision campaign on Facebook. You can join them by searching vision guided life on Facebook.
Charles Spurgeon said, “Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.”
The Vision Guided Life is a book of wisdom delivered with refreshing simplicity.
The premise of the book boldly asserts that:
"Your insight determines your future. If your vision is limited, you will accomplish very little with your purpose. Vision is God’s redemptive revelation. Vision applies to the individual, family, business, church and a nation. To lack vision, is to lack a future."
The well respected leadership expert, John Maxwell once said, “Robert Woodruff, who was the President of Coca Cola, from 1923 to 1955, a 32-year span, cast the following vision for Coca Cola. Right after World War II, he said, ‘In my lifetime I want everyone in the world to have tasted Coke.’ ”
As the book, The Vision Guided Life points out, vision sees the desired outcome then takes practical steps towards meeting that goal.
The twins emphasize very clearly that the greatest test to determine if a vision is present is to look at the people, not the leader. The people are a reflection of the presence or absence of vision.
Right out of the gate, the book's introduction does a great job in laying the ground work for what you should expect within its pages. From the concept of "Destiny Zone" to "Pause or Play" you get a window into the twins’ grasp of the subject of vision. The Destiny Zone is explained diagrammatically as a cycle comprising of vision, identity, and purpose. They contend that when all three are in sync, you are living in the Destiny Zone. Outside of the Destiny Zone a person feels a deep sense of dissatisfaction, low self-esteem, hopelessness, spiritual blindness, and a lack of direction.
Sadly, many Christians haven't found their God-given Destiny Zone.
Regarding the concept of 'Pause or Play', the authors explain that most people are living their lives in a state of perpetual pause, just like a message on CD that is put on pause to attend to a phone call or to someone at the door. Kay and Olu Taiwo say "In the context of life, for many this interruption could last ten seconds or ten years. Some have last ‘played out’ their purpose decades ago and have been living perpetually in ‘pause’ mode ever since. Tragic indeed."
In the introduction of the book, the authors cite a letter they received from a lady in England who had read one of their books on the subject of identity. Below is an excerpt of the letter:
"Your book put all my spiritual anxieties into perspective. Due to the enormous suffering, rejection, condemnation, and ridicule I encountered, I was a little dizzy by what was actually happening to me. But 1 Peter 4:12 explains it, and your book has illuminated everything for me. I can now start to enjoy my walk in the Lord with security and confidence."
This letter was used to illustrate that our progress in life can be halted by what happens to us, and that it is the insight we receive that enables us to go forward in life.
For the African readers, the authors pose a bold challenge by confronting some of the reasons they believe are responsible for the lack of progress prevalent on the continent of Africa. They believe that there is a drought of visionary leaders in the highest positions of power, and that the culture permits this to persist.
They deal head on with the cultural malady known as "African time". To illustrate this point, they cite a real life example. In the chapter, Two Standards of Excellence, Kay Taiwo explains, "I remember a humorous event that happened a few years ago. It was eye-opening. My wife and I attended a birthday party for the child of a family friend who happens to be African. She told her American friends to come to the party at 2 pm but told her African friends to come at 12 noon. Everyone arrived at the same time! Understanding how Africans view time, she decided to tell her African friends to arrive much earlier knowing that they would be late."
