IHI E&C International Corporation Awarded EP Services Contract for Urea Project
Houston, TX (PRWEB) June 17, 2014 -- IHI E&C International Corporation (IHI E&C), a wholly-owned subsidiary of IHI Corporation, has been selected to provide detailed engineering and procurement services to Dakota Gasification Company (DGC) for a new urea production unit at its Great Plains Synfuels Plant near Beulah, North Dakota. Urea is most commonly used in agricultural applications as a nitrogen release fertilizer.
This award marks the continuation of IHI E&C’s work with DGC. IHI E&C successfully completed the FEED study in October 2013.
Muhammad Islam, SVP of Technology, commented, “We are extremely pleased to be involved in this project. Our expertise in engineering, procurement and construction management together with our experience working with technology licensors makes us well positioned to design and build a facility that will serve the agricultural community for generations to come. This award also reinforces IHI E&C strategy to provide technology driven EPC services throughout the Americas to our key clients in the midstream and downstream markets.”
The urea plant will produce 1,100 tons of urea daily and is scheduled for completion in 2017. The project will also include construction of a storage facility that will hold about 53,000 tons of granular urea, as well as a new load-out facility for trucks and railcars with capacity to load up to 110 railcars in a single shipment.
