Ikoniq Designs Shipping Container Entertainment Venue for Tailgating and Game Action for West Point Football
West Point, NY (PRWEB) December 21, 2015 -- Ikoniq recently designed an entertainment hotspot from shipping containers for tailgating at West Point, another example of a trend sweeping higher education sports venues. NY-based Ikoniq is a custom manufacturing company for carts, kiosks, and modular construction and has logged growing interest in this category of portable hospitality suites because they are cost effective and true venues of interest. Shipping container-adapted party areas fit the bill for meeting standards for efficiency, green construction thinking, and artistry.
“We see that college football stadiums love it for the ability to fold it up when not in use, and its railing on the balcony that makes it safe and fun to hang sponsor banners. It’s a central hub constructed of steel and offers a unique experience to its visitors,” explains Pat Kreger, VP of Sales for Ikoniq.
More than 32,000 people attend an average West Point football game and that means fans want prime viewing areas and are often willing to pay for it. The United States Military Academy at West Point identified its need for expanding the tailgating possibilities.
West Point fans have grown fond of its balcony and ability to relax with guests around a nearby TV for full-on action during event nights. “Our first football night of Sept. 3rd with the hospitality suite was amazing. It sits on the South End of the Stadium so you can tailgate all night, but see the action. The observation deck allows for a view of 70 percent of the playing field. For those that need to see every play up close, we have the TV down below,” commented Spencer Smith, a senior ticket associate for West Point.
These hospitality dens of entertainment are home runs with VIPs and other dignitary-type premium tailgating, Kreger said. The 20 foot-by-8 foot-by 8 foot worry-free, all-inclusive unit affords a balcony that allows for more than 70 percent visibility of the entire football field from an unlikely corner of the stadium, freeing up more space for networking at important games. It will accommodate about 40 people.
The West Point unit is offered as a football game rental with a catering package plus parking passes at approximately $6,000.00 and is always in use for the 13 weeks of the season.
West Point anticipates using theirs for lacrosse games as well as football. Then, it could be a special events teaser at festivals with loading onto a flatbed truck making the whole process seamless and quick.
Elsewhere, college football teams like those in the American Athletic Conference have announced that tricked-out shipping containers for corporate hospitality are a major wow factor, as reported by Sports Business Daily in July of this year. For example, the suites at Southern Methodist University outside Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, are leased. No more typical white tents.
Ease of use, convenience, and cover are important to fans looking for a point of attraction that’s trendy and innovative. Brand sponsors like that it offers more real estate for messaging to key audiences. With a portable satellite, the options for broadcast are numerous, and fans can dial in just what they want to view when. This is about making the on-campus experience differentiated and accessible throughout the game night, Kreger at Ikoniq points out.
