Ilium VR Launches Crowdfunding Campaign to Fund Manufacturing of Virtual Reality (VR) Gun Controller
Troy, New York (PRWEB) December 05, 2016 -- Ilium VR, a virtual reality (VR) tech startup, has designed and developed a realistic gun controller to correspond with VR games. The company announced today its crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to drive the manufacturing of the new consumer-ready controller.
Ilium VR’s physically realistic hardware provides gamers the most immersive VR experience in the form of a rifle controller. The controller, called Athena, complements the HTC Vive, and natively integrates SteamVR tracking technology. The gun is compatible with any SteamVR game, and Ilium has specifically partnered with Invrse Studios to coordinate the gun for The Nest, and with Vertigo Games for controller compatibility with Arizona Sunshine.
Athena is unique from other VR controllers currently available, as it has many realistic features specific to the shooter game experience. The controller has a futuristic appearance, and its key features include:
• Immersive reloading with realistic dropdown magazine and fully-tracked slide action
• Complete wireless functionality with 14 hours of game play on a single charge, which takes about 45 minutes
• Haptic vibrational feedback for recoil
• Integrated SteamVR/Lighthouse tracking technology
• Additional input controls, including the joystick and button pad
Prior to developing the consumer-ready controller, Ilium VR first produced gun controller developer kits exclusive to its Developer Program. This initial research allowed Ilium VR to refine its product and build a following throughout the industry. The startup, founded in 2014, is now focused solely on bringing the consumer product to market.
Ilium VR’s Indiegogo campaign launched on Monday, December 5 and will remain live through Tuesday, January 3. To learn more or fund the campaign, please visit http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/athena-technology/coming_soon.
