Illinois School Identified As Best Practice User of Tablet Technology by LearnPad
Illinois (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- At a time of media reporting on mixed success with various tablet technologies in schools, St. Peter School has been acknowledged by the leading international, educationally aligned tablet solution supplier, LearnPad, as an example of best practice use.
Ken Leonard, chairman and CEO of LearnPad, explained, “The staff at St. Peter School have worked with us to achieve an incredibly effective learning solution. Many schools invest in tablet technology designed for consumers and don’t realize the need for vital learning management and appropriate content tools. St. Peter School recognized the importance of these aspects when it came to an effective education tablet solution and have demonstrated exemplary implementation and use of the technology in the classroom. I applaud their work.”
Marcia Feltes, Technology Coordinator, St. Peter School enthused, “This is the future of education! Our students will be using technology in high school, college and in the work place. We have taken this opportunity to try to instill in them the responsibilities that go along with using mobile technology, including Internet safety and ethics. Our primary goal was to find something that would be educationally based with content information. We also wanted a solution that allowed us to control website access for the students. Since we are a Catholic, elementary/middle school we felt strongly about finding a device that would be safe for the students. We also recognized that the successful implementation of tablet technology in the classroom must go far beyond the hardware itself.”
The school has also noticed a corresponding reduction in the use of paper. Feltes explains, “We put all the files we need, such as reading questions, book report guides, speech and career report guides and organizers on the LearnPad saving multiple copies from being printed. The students also have access to this information when they are absent.”
LearnPad can be seen at TCEA convention and exposition, Austin, Texas, 3-7 February 2014, on booth 831, and FETC, Orange County convention center, Orlando, Florida, 28-31 January 2014 with CCS Presentation Systems on booth 721.
