ILX Offer Advice After Statistics Released Into Number of Employers Considering Leaving Their Role
(PRWEB UK) 11 February 2014 -- It has been reported by Management Today in an article published on January 6 that a recent survey has indicated that one in five employees plan to leave their job in 2014. The survey, conducted by the Institute of Leadership & Management, took responses from 1000 workers and discovered that nearly a third are unsure whether they will remain in their current position. Results of the poll also revealed that 70% of those wanting to leave their current role would be interested in a different or similar position at a new organisation, while one in ten respondents were interested in starting their own business.
Results of this recent poll comes after news from the Office for National Statistics that the unemployment rate in the UK has fallen to 7.4%, with the number of people unemployed falling by 99,000 to 2.39 million in the three months prior to October.
A spokesperson for ILX reviewed the results of this research and offered advice to those who are considering leaving their current role:
“The statistics from this poll are interesting in highlighting how many employees are considering leaving their current position, particularly the number of employees who are interested in pursuing a different or similar position elsewhere. Making the decision to change careers or leave your current role can be daunting and with the current competitive job market it is vital that candidates make sure that their CV stands out from the competition. For example, when applying for a project manager role a project management certification is a great asset on your CV demonstrating your commitment to your career.
"These statistics should also prompt employers to explore how they can retain their employees. For example ensuring employees have clear development paths and opportunities to progress can be helpful in making sure that employees feel valued by their employers.”
