Stamford, CT (PRWEB) June 26, 2014 -- Imian Hospitality, in collaboration with George Comfort & Sons, unveils the second edition of its pop-up concept, The Beer Garden at Shippan Landing (‘BGSL’). The sprawling, waterfront venue is located on the tip of Shippan Landing with spectacular views of Stamford Harbor and Long Island Sound. Imian first introduced the ‘moveable feast’ that is the Beer Garden pop-up last summer at Harbor Point and is widely credited with activating the social scene in Stamford’s South End.
Imian Hospitality partners Johnny Heil, Paul Tully and Ted Kakoyiannis have been a creative force and owner behind the success of numerous NYC restaurants and bars of note including Local, Lucy’s Cantina Royale, Rogue & Canon, The Beer Garden at Local West, Scarpetta, and Caffe Lugo. The team is eager to introduce the hallmarks of the Imian experience to the Shippan peninsula: A fresh and approachable concept, a thoughtfully designed setting and a discerning, creative culinary experience accompanied by warm, exceptional service. Johnny Heil comments, “The Beer Garden at Shippan Landing is going to break new ground on the hospitality front in Fairfield County. We are extremely excited to collaborate with George Comfort & Sons in creating this unique venue and look forward to sharing it with the local community and beyond.”
The 15,000 sq. foot waterfront oasis was designed by noted landscape architect, Rick Parisi, of MPFP. Parisi is the mastermind open space planner behind projects such as the USTA Tennis Center (Flushing Meadows), Icahn Stadium (Randall’s Island), Olympic Park (Calgary) and the soon to be built New York Wheel (Staten Island). MPFP has worked its design magic on BGSL and created an idyllic landscape, which will quickly evolve into an asset the community will embrace. With traditional, imported German beer garden tables and benches spread throughout the grassy landscape, Tivoli lighting strung above and an array of outdoor games including bocce, corn-hole and horseshoes, BGSL promises to have something for everyone. A carefully curated list of craft beers on draft and in cans showcasing favorites from Dogfish Head, Curious Traveler and local brewers Captain Lawrence, Thomas Hooker, Half Full and Two Roads, ensures a beer lover’s paradise.
A rotating roster of Stamford’s finest food trucks slotted along the Beer Garden’s driveway will provide a culinary bounty contributing to the innovative and unique character of the Beer Garden. Favorite trucks such as LobsterCraft, Maddy’s, Vanchetta and Melt Mobile will join rising stars Bodega and Bounty to create a food truck nirvana. Heil adds, “We will be offering terrific food that is fun, local and approachable and that compliments the craft beer and cocktails in a spectacular waterfront setting- a pretty compelling combination!”
The Imian design team has worked to create an inviting, casual bar scene through the inspired use of recycled wooden cargo pallets that will evoke a rustic, casual feel set amongst the backdrop of bustling Stamford Harbor. The pallets have been salvaged from nearby construction projects and the reclaimed wood will be featured throughout the bar space as wall treatments, tabletops and bar shelving.
Beginning in early July, BGSL will be open Wednesday, Thursday & Fridays from 4pm until last call and Saturday and Sundays from 2pm until last call.
