Immersive Audio Company Dysonics Receives Series A Funding Led by Intel Capital
San Diego, California (PRWEB) October 24, 2016 -- Dysonics, a pioneer in spatial headphone audio technology, today announced that it has raised a Series A financing round led by Intel Capital, along with participation from Rawah Partners. Leveraging over 20 years of University research, Dysonics delivers a variety of patented technologies and products that yield lifelike 360° sound experiences over any headphones, giving listeners a remarkable sense of presence for both live and prerecorded content.
This funding comes as Dysonics expands commercialization of its core technologies to hardware manufacturers, content creators, and media platforms in markets including: music, movies, gaming, virtual reality, augmented reality, and 360 media. Core technologies include:
— Industry-leading software tools for spatial/360 audio production
— Proprietary 360 degree microphone arrays for live capture/broadcasting
— Proprietary 360 degree content analysis and transformation
— Motion-tracked 3D audio engine (software or hardware implementations)
This investment will support the acceleration of research and product development, as well as marketing, all aimed at delivering the most lifelike headphone audio possible via consumer tools and embedded solutions.
“The media industry is undergoing a rare and rapid paradigm shift to support new immersive media formats that are being driven by mobile computing and virtual/augmented reality. This change requires fundamental re-engineering in all areas of content production and distribution,” said Dysonics Co-Founder & CTO Robert Dalton Jr. “Dysonics has been pioneering spatial audio research for over 20 years. The investment from Intel Capital allows us to aggressively expand technology development across hardware and software products as we continue our mission of redefining the world of headphone audio.”
“As Intel remains heavily focused on enabling rich content experiences across existing and emerging platforms and devices, the importance of delivering compelling audio is top of mind,” said Ron Friedman, corporate vice president and general manager, Integrated IP and Technology group at Intel. “With headphones ubiquitous in today’s world, paired with the rise of new immersive media forms like virtual reality, we’re excited by the opportunity to accelerate the deployment of Dysonics’ innovative spatial audio technologies.”
