In Honor of World Heart Day, GUARDaHEART Announces Recipients of the Prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA)
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) September 29, 2015 -- The GUARDaHEART Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting Heart Disease through awareness and prevention, has today announced their first recipients of the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to be presented in honor of World Heart Day.
GUARDaHEART was recently honored as a certifying organization of the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) – a premier volunteer awards program that encourages citizens to live a life of service through presidential gratitude and national recognition.
“GUARDaHEART serves as an outstanding administrator of one of the most prestigious awards,” commented Dr. Nathan Wong, Director of the University of California – Irvine Heart Disease Prevention Program. “The collective efforts by a dedicated group of individuals are making an incredible impact on Heart Disease awareness and prevention.”
Many remain unaware that Heart Disease is the leading cause of death and disability, but is 80% preventable. GUARDaHEART volunteers actively work to help save lives and reduce the global health burden with the mission: “Learn. Detect. Prevent.”
“We certainly cannot fight the Heart Disease epidemic alone,” commented Estrella Harrington, Founder of GUARDaHEART. “We are proud to be an ambassador on behalf of our nation’s president to provide this honorable award and recognize volunteers who empower change.”
A ceremony and reception will be held this evening in San Clemente, CA, where GUARDaHEART will recognize Jerry & Stephanie Nostadt, Rose Hancock, Deborah Wilcox, and Kimberly Olsen for their outstanding contribution to heart health.
Dr. Pratiksha G Gandhi, the first Indian woman to become a preventive cardiologist, and founder of IPC Heart Care, will be the guest speaker at the event. IPC Heart Care is a global pioneer in the field of Preventive Cardiology, and have done groundbreaking work in the field of Non-Surgical Treatments for ailments of the heart, with centers in India and USA.
Along with presidential recognition, recipients of the PVSA will receive a personalized certificate, an official pin, medallion or coin, and a congratulatory letter from the president of the United States.
