In Time for Friday the 13th, “Cubicle Creepshow” Trilogy Parodies Office Woes
CHICAGO (PRWEB) April 12, 2018 -- Headlines about toxic workplaces, firings via text, and secret surveillance at the office have quite a few of us feeling like the working world is cursed. Just in time for Friday the 13th, two Chicago-based sisters/filmmaking partners tackle these fears head on by releasing the third of their three-part comedy web series, “Human Resources Season 2: Cubicle Creepshow.”
This trilogy of terror spoofs real workplace horror stories including forced overtime, workplace bullying, PowerPoint fails, and never-ending email threads by mashing them up with horror movies we all know and love. And just in case the topics don’t have you longing for the carefree (and bill-free) days of your childhood, the series features elaborately painted and re-imagined dolls in the image of iconic monsters from “Carrie” to “Wolf Man.”
The chilling, yet LOL-inducing series launched on March 29 and culminated this week. In addition to three episodes “Reply You Die (The Ring Parody), “Rest in PowerPoint (Carrie Spoof),” and the brand new “Overtime of Death (Wolf Man Parody), Kozi and Kyra also partnered with a team of internationally known career influencers to share real advice via Cubicle Creepshow Conversations on http://www.mythlabent.com.
“Growing up, we loved playing with dolls together,” recounts younger sister Kozi, who came up with the concepts for both seasons after creepy corporate experiences. “This project brings us full circle and the dolls add levity to what can truly be horrific aspects of work-life.”
“There is a good deal of truth to these scenarios as well,” added Kyra. “Bosses, entrepreneurs and co-workers can learn a lot from seeing their actions through the prism of horror movies.”
“Cubicle Creepshow” builds upon buzz the Kyles sibs started with the original, award-winning “Human Resources,” which was performed by puppets and starred fellow Chicago native Lil Rel Howery of “Get Out” fame. Speaking of “Get Out,” like one of their heroes, Oscar winner Jordan Peele, The Kyles are African Americans breaking through in a traditionally homogenous genre.
