Inaugural CanAm Veterans Challenge Bicycle Ride Seeks Injured Veterans
Holbrook, New York (PRWEB) February 26, 2014 -- National non-profit World T.E.A.M. Sports announced today the inaugural CanAm Veterans Challenge, a two-nation bicycle, recumbent and hand cycle ride for injured veterans from Ottawa, Ontario to Washington, D.C., to be held this June 20-July 4.
Presented by Realty Capital Securities, the two week ride offers 20 veterans with disabilities a personal journey from the capital of Canada to the capital of the United States. Created in collaboration with Soldier On Canada and Wounded Warriors Canada, the ride confirms the deep, lasting friendship between the participating nations and an ongoing commitment to honor the men and women who have served as members of the armed forces.
Interested injured veterans from Canada and the United States are encouraged to submit an application online for the ride. Successful applicants will be physically fit athletes who can travel 40 to 100 miles each day for two weeks by bicycle, recumbent or hand cycle, who served in the Canadian or American military, and who were severely injured or became ill during their service. Ten veterans from Canada and ten from the United States will be selected for the ride. Transportation, lodging and meals for the participating riders will be covered by the sponsoring organizations. Members from all service branches are encouraged to apply.

Traveling together from their departure in Ottawa, the team will ride through scenic, rolling farmlands and forests, suburban and urban communities large and small, on their journey. Meeting Americans from both sides of the border, the team will see firsthand the land and the people they served.
Along the way, members of the public will be invited to join the team for an hour or two, or a day, to pedal with these exceptional Americans. Full information about the ride, and the route, will become available later in the spring.
