Inaugural ScribeAmerica Charity Golf Tournament Raises Funds for Veteran Causes
Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) January 07, 2016 -- ScribeAmerica held its first annual golf tournament at Trump National Doral, Miami. The inaugural event was established to support wounded veterans by raising funds for three well respected veteran focused nonprofit organizations: The Wounded Warrior Project, The Independence Fund, and Wounded Warriors of South Florida.
The event was held on the famous Blue Monster course and was attended by members of the business and healthcare communities. After the day’s play, golfers enjoyed a dinner and awards reception including a keynote speech by LT. Gen Robert Chelberg, who spoke to the importance of support for veterans. Lt. General Chelberg is a 32-year army veteran and president of Wounded Warriors of South Florida.
The event chair, ScribeAmerica CEO Michael Murphy, M.D., himself a military veteran, summed up the day and purpose: “ScribeAmerica has been a longtime supporter of military veterans. We make an effort to hire veterans within the company and support veteran causes. The charity golf tournament is another opportunity for us to give back to wounded veterans. I would like to thank everyone who supported the event. We had a great day at Doral and we look forward to putting on a similar event next year.”
The three veteran-focused non-profits were chosen on the basis of the well-respected work they do for injured veterans, and their relatively low operating costs that permit a high proportion of donations to go directly into support programs. A brief synopsis of each is provided below.

The Wounded Warrior Project is guided by a vision to foster a generation of successful and well-adjusted service members. The Independence Fund offers injured troops the tools, therapies and guidance that they might not otherwise receive. Wounded Warriors of South Florida
Wounded Warriors of South Florida provides temporary, immediate, financial assistance to service- connected disabled veterans from Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation New Dawn (OND). Wounded Warriors of South Florida (WWofSF) assists Wounded Warriors returning from these combat areas, while maintaining a high respect for privacy for the veteran and their families.
