Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) December 30, 2013 -- InCrowd, the only provider of real time market intelligence for the pharmaceutical industry, today announces its most popular 2013 research from healthcare professionals. Headlining the series was data on social media access in hospitals. 640 physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and hospital administrators were asked about access to social media in their hospitals and 59% report that access is blocked.
Another InCrowd study highlighted the 2013 flu season when a 100 retail pharmacists were asked, "what are the main reasons people don’t get flu shots?" According to the Crowd, 55% believe that the flu shot will give them the flu, making them sick. An additional 21% do not see a need for getting a flu shot as they have never gotten the flu; while 15% have misconceptions around the benefit of getting a flu shot.
To gain a better understanding around the current state of patient engagement, 300 US based primary care physicians were queried about their patient engagement activities. A surprising 40% of the surveyed physicians indicated they participate in no patient engagement activities. An additional 17% were not familiar with the term and 13% feel the results of patient engagement are not worth the effort.
"Real time data enables organizations to take a pulse of their target market," says Kathleen Poulos, Co-Founder and CMO of InCrowd, "we’re excited to share our own research with the pharmaceutical and life science industries to give them a greater insight into what healthcare professionals think about current market events."
To learn why physicians participate in real time research, we asked 100 doctors from across the United States about their participation in real time research with InCrowd. The majority found InCrowd appealing because of the short time required to respond. Almost half of the physicians surveyed find InCrowd much quicker and some stated they believe InCrowd microsurveys are easier than traditional market research.
