CARMEL, Ind. (PRWEB) April 17, 2018 -- Indiana Ballet Conservatory students will be on the international stage as they compete in the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) Finals in New York City April 13th - April 20th, 2018. YAGP is the largest student ballet scholarship competition in the world and is comparable to the Olympics of classical ballet per the Chicago Sun-Times. Indiana Ballet Conservatory students have qualified in Ensembles, along with three Soloist competitors, and one Pas de Deux.
The Center for Performing Arts in Carmel set the stage for the YAGP Semi-Finals where IBC students and faculty stunned the audience with award-winning performances. IBC faculty member Sergey Sergiev received the top honor for Outstanding Choreographer. “I am so pleased that YAGP has acknowledged Sergey Sergiev, choosing him once again as Outstanding Choreographer at the YAGP Indianapolis semi-finals. Having worked with Sergey since 2006, year after year I am amazed at his talent and ability to draw the very best from our students and create original choreography that expresses each student’s uniqueness and talents. I am honored to keep working with such a strong team of professionals for so many years,” says Alyona Yakelova-Randall, Founding Artistic Director Indiana Ballet Conservatory.
During the Semi-Finals Indiana Ballet Conservatory received the coveted Outstanding School Award which is the seventh year receiving this top honor. Students placed among the best in the Senior, Junior, and Pre-Competitive Divisions further demonstrating the elite training and talent the Conservatory provides its students. IBC student and Semi Finals winner, Sam Greene anxiously awaits his performance in New York City. He shares, “This is an incredible opportunity and a dream come true. All of the time training at IBC and encouragement from my teachers, help me to improve my performance and provide me the opportunity to dance with the very best in the world.”
The world will be watching as Indiana Ballet Conservatory students perform during Finals Week ending with the YAGP Stars of Today Meet Stars of Tomorrow Gala.
