Indiana Civil Trial Law Firm Announces 2016 Scholarship Opportunities
New Albany, IN (PRWEB) April 07, 2016 -- Prominent Kentuckiana law firm McNeely Stephenson has revealed that for the first time, it will be awarding three scholarships to be presented by August 1, 2016. One scholarship is geared toward a law student who is beginning his or her first year of law school. Seeking to reward creative authorship, this $1,000 scholarship is based on originality, creativity, and the ability to clearly convey a complex message. The other two scholarships are worth $500 each and are available to high school students beginning their first year of college. Focused on community involvement, these are judged by length of community service history, depth of dedication to the community, and the ability to clearly convey a complex message.
Managing Partner Larry Church explains, “Rising tuition costs and a highly competitive job market can make higher education a quick avenue to financial distress. Scholarships can really help bridge the funding gap because they don’t have to be repaid. We are pleased that we can offer these investments in the potential of three worthy students.”
For the law student scholarship, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S., be starting law school in August of 2016, and have written an article that has been published in a newspaper, magazine, professional blog, or academic publication. Completed application forms must be submitted with a copy of the applicant’s law school acceptance letter and either a copy of the applicant’s previously published article or a link to the article’s online location. The subject matter does not have to be related to the law, but should purport to be informational. Applications can be submitted online at McNeely Stephenson.
For the high school student scholarships, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S., be starting college in August of 2016, and have been deeply involved in their community. Completed application forms must be submitted with a copy of the applicant’s college acceptance letter and a detailed report of his or her past community service efforts. This report should be in the form of an essay discussing the involvement as well as how this award will further his or her college career and continued dedication to assisting others. Applications can be submitted online at McNeely Stephenson.
For either scholarship, all documents must be received by May 1, 2016. The successful candidates will be notified by June 15, 2016. The winners’ educational institutions will receive the checks by August 1, 2016, to help defray his or her tuition costs and other expenses.
