Indiana Recognizes Vapor Protection Services as a Certified Women Business Enterprise (WBE)
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) February 16, 2015 -- Vapor Protection Services is proud to announce its recent certification as a Women Business Enterprise by the State of Indiana, cited by the State of Indiana Department of Administration Minority and Women’s Business Enterprise as a provider of commercial Air Quality Management, Toxic Substances Protection Services, Natural risks or Hazards Protection Services, and Air Scrubbing.
Vapor Protection Services provides mitigation services for the state’s many consulting firms who work on environmental sites impacted by vapor intrusion or in need of radon reduction in large commercial spaces or office buildings. Recently, the company added radon measurements and long term testing of military bases with an assignment offshore at a base for the U.S. Navy.
President and founder of Vapor Protection Services, Dawn Sandoe comments, “There’s no doubt that our certification as a WBE has helped put us on the radar of those firms representing clients with sites that require strict adherence to state, federal or military standards. At that level, our qualifications become necessary.”
Sandoe adds, “Protocols like the Navy’s NAVRAMP, or compliance issues with EPA or IDEM at dry cleaning and old manufacturing sites, requires comprehensive reporting and documentation. We provide stand alone appendices that save consultants time and money so that they can spend more time focusing on the larger issues of remediation plans and stakeholders liability.”
The company also works extensively in neighboring states for consultants who do not yet have area service providers with the same experience and qualifications.
Sandoe hopes that new membership in the Midwest American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (MWAARST) will help raise state awareness about radon, a form of vapor intrusion that effects indoor air quality and is linked to lung cancer worldwide.
Sandoe states, “When we started receiving advanced coursework from our national certifying body on mitigation of chemical intrusion to expand on practical experience, I was shocked to learn that radon levels in indoor air impacts human health even more than contamination. That’s when we became radon awareness advocates.”
The company became certified last year by the City of Indianapolis as a WBE in radon awareness as well as radon testing, and radon and vapor mitigation because Sandoe feels passionately about using her company website to educate Indiana residents, realtors and schools about the dangers of radon and the need for reducing radon per EPA guidelines.
Vapor Protection Services continues to distinguish itself as a business that places innovation and best practice policies at the forefront of their work within the industry. Vapor Protection Services technical personnel receive national certification through the American Academy of Radon Scientists and Technologists (AARST) and the National Radon Proficiency Board (NRPP) as well as licensure by the Indiana State Board of Health. Site personnel also receive training and certifications through courses given by the Midwest Universities Radon Consortium (MURC) in conjunction with EPA.
Sandoe concludes, “We are definitely in a new and competitive industry. Our breakthrough is going to have to remain our commitment to quality that many of our competitors ignore by working through loopholes or gaps in state laws and by forgoing suggested EPA guidelines, which is dangerous for Hoosiers in the long-term. We believe that eventually everyone will want indoor air quality at home when they realize the impact of radon on public health and the cost savings that radon reduction can provide versus radiation, chemotherapy and hospital costs.” In the meantime, Vapor Protection Services will continue with their efforts at radon awareness for schools, office building and homes, as well as, mitigating the impact of chemical intrusion in commercial and residential sites caused by environmental contamination.
