Indico Solutions Announces Release of First Mobile Application from New Guidelines Platform
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) February 17, 2015 -- Indico Solutions of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, announced today the release of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Clinical Practice Guidelines mobile application for Apple iOS devices, the first app integrated with Indico’s new guidelines platform.
“The app allows all of our guidelines to be in a single, searchable application that’s always up-to-date and easily can be used at the point of patient care,” said John D. Mitchell, MD, a cardiothoracic surgeon and Chair of the STS Workforce on Evidence Based Surgery.
Core to the Indico Guidelines Platform for development and dissemination of clinical practice guidelines, the app allows any new or updated guidelines to be available immediately. “Multiple guideline dissemination pathways are key for implementation,” said Chris Wolfkiel, PhD, former Director of ACOEM Practice Guidelines. “The traditional print publication model for clinical practice guideline dissemination is necessary but not sufficient for modern guidelines which conform to Institute of Medicine standards. Changes to existing clinical recommendations based on new scientific evidence need to be in physicians’ hands as soon as possible.”
As an integrated solution, Indico’s Platform allows management of supporting evidence, archival and content management that can be linked to mobile apps, society websites and other health care IT, such as decision support systems. Configurable to guideline developers’ methodology, the platform is adaptable in addressing IOM standards with evidence grading options and flexible management of evidence assessment and extraction. Central to the platform is the ability to link recommendations to specific ICD9/10, CPT4, NDC codes and SNOMED-based keywords. While guidelines focused, the Platform can be used for any evidence-based deliverable such as appropriate use, technical reports or systematic reviews where evidence evaluation is required and collaboration/review functionality is important.
