Individual Chapter Published from Outliers in Education to Help Future Teachers Preview Teaching and Other Career Options
(PRWEB) August 07, 2015 -- Outliers Publishing announced Chapter 4 of the upcoming book Outliers in Education with exclusive interview content from Clark Sturges, is now available for sale on Ingredientsofoutliers.com. Sturges is known for thirty-two years devoted to teaching English and his passion for language as the founder of a publishing company and accomplished author.
The eBook is $0.99 on Amazon.com and can be read on any device compatible with the Kindle eReader application.
Sturges was chosen as a featured outlier because he is passionate about teaching students how to use their voice in their writing in addition to his impressive resume, having found success in multiple careers. After graduating from Stanford with a degree in political science, Sturges worked as a reporter, eventually as a technical writer for aerospace companies. In pursuit of his passion for language, Sturges attended San Francisco State University to get his master’s degree in Language Arts. Sturges stumbled into teaching when his thesis advisor pushed him to apply for a part-time teaching job at the University. With no teaching experience or training, Sturges applied for and received the position. From there he worked as an Emeritus Professor at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, California. Thus began his thirty-two years as an educator, working with students to grow as writers and never discouraging them. Now retired from teaching, Sturges founded the publishing company Devil Mountain Books. In the pursuit of his passions, Sturges did it all - edited, taught, wrote and published.
The upcoming title in which Sturges and 5 other outstanding educators will be featured, Outliers in Education, is expected to publish in September 2015. Other individuals profiled in the book include army veteran and Professor Emeritus at Drake University, Dr. Robert Kodama; early childhood education teacher and director of Villa Montessori School, Margo O’Neill; fifth grade teacher, Brenda Rico; English and Advanced Via Individual Development teacher, Maribeth Sublette; and owner and director of Little Friends Montessori School, Mary Vallelonga.
“We have interviewed an incredible group of teachers who pursued their passions and represent the gamut of age groups, experience levels, and teaching styles. They have tirelessly worked to create an atmosphere in which their students can learn and grow. This is a culture we want to replicate and our future teachers will be greatly enriched by wise words from there mentors,” said author, entrepreneur, and emergency physician, John Shufeldt.
