Industry Analyst Jeff Kagan on AT&T Mobility Expanding Push-to-Talk Service
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- AT&T Mobility is expanding their enhanced Push-to-Talk or PTT line of handsets and services, according to their press release, July 15.
Tech analyst Jeff Kagan offers comment.
“Push-to-Talk is one of the wireless industry secret weapons not everyone knows about. Customers who know about and use Push-to-Talk, love the service. It provides a way to talk and stay in contact with one other person or a large group at the same time,” says Principal analyst Jeff Kagan.
“AT&T is expanding their enhanced Push-to-Talk service. Typically Push-to-Talk users are business or government customers. These wireless phones act like traditional wireless phones, with added features that let users communicate with a push button like a walkie-talkie, except the signal connects with the network and can be delivered anyway, across the street or across the country, instantly. Plus it can connect with one other user, or an entire group,” says Kagan.
In the AT&T press release, they discuss three new PTT handsets from Sonim. These are tough devices used within tough industries like construction, transportation, manufacturing and agriculture.
Some key features of AT&T Enhanced Push-to-Talk include: larger contact lists and talk groups than competitive push-to-talk, the ability to combine push-to-talk services and mobile applications, supervisory override that allows supervisors to communicate important time sensitive messages to their team, and call setup in less than one second.
The press release also shows a list of awards and commendations the AT&T service has received.
“PTT is one of those very important wireless features, that not everyone has or knows about, but is crucial to the communications of many government and business operations,” says Kagan.
