Infinite Skills "AutoCAD - Working With References Tutorial" Offers Specialized Training on Using Overlaid Drawings
(PRWEB) October 21, 2013 -- Software training firm Infinite Skills Inc. last week introduced its "AutoCAD - Working with References Tutorial," a specialized course providing advanced training in the use of multiple drawing references in AutoCAD drawings.
References are drawings brought in to other drawings as reference files, allowing users to overlay multiple files in order to fulfill detail requirements, for instance, including a foundation or topographical information in a construction drawing. In addition, references also facilitate collaboration, allowing multiple users to augment and update reference files that appear in other versions of the drawing.
Infinite Skills' "AutoCAD - Working With References Tutorial" provides focused, advanced-level training in this powerful area of AutoCAD functionality.

Course author Shaun Bryant is an AutoCAD training consultant with 20 years of hands-on experience as an AutoCAD user in civil and structural engineering practice. He has worked for Autodesk in sales support and training, and is currently an Autodesk Approved Instructor, holding AutoCAD 2013 Certified Professional status.
Following an introduction, in which Bryant explains the basics of using references, including the XREF file format, the reference interface panel, and how to edit references, he begins explaining in detail how to use references, exploring all the commands and tools in the reference palette.
From there, the course explores working with reference files, explaining how to load, detach, and bind reference files, update them, and reconcile layers within a drawing. Bryant then moves on to working with underlays, explaining how to use PDFs, perform adjustments to the underlay, and how to scale underlying references.
The course concludes with a look at plotting with reference files, explaining layer states, property filters, and group filters, to ensure cohesion between layers in your final product.
"Working with references is an excellent way of overlaying information," Bryant explains. "With reference files, other people can contribute, for example a co-worker can be working on a topography file while you're working on the building. This course will get into all the details of using this functionality, including details of how to maintain consistency with updated files and scaling."
