Here, Wilkes begins by explaining the relationship between gamma correction and linear brightness, noting that there is often a redundancy in the amount of gamma correction applied to an image, and how it can be corrected by manually applying linear settings.
WIlkes then guides users through an exploration of the "de-gamma" process, beginning with establishing well-tested guidelines for ensuring maximum rendering quality.
The course then explores a variety of modeling situations that use different degrees and kinds of lighting, starting with the staging and lighting of a model vehicle, as Wilkes demonstrates how to apply these custom settings to optimize the final render.
Other examples include an exterior lighting scene, exploring depth of field and camera bloom features, an interior lighting scene with both artificial and natural lighting, and a human portrait, taking into account the realism of skin tone, hair color and texture, and more.
