InfoMart to Celebrate 25th Anniversary
Marietta, GA (PRWEB) August 20, 2014 -- InfoMart, a national leader in pre-employment screening, celebrates its 25th anniversary in September 2014. Today, InfoMart is still driven by the entrepreneurial spirit of its founder and chair, Tammy Cohen. "The industry has gone though many changes over the past 25 years. InfoMart has shaped much of that change," said Cohen.
InfoMart opened in September 1989 after Cohen saw a need for employers to screen potential employees. At the time very few companies were providing the service. Cohen knew the breakdown of a background check from her earlier employment in real estate, banking and as an administrative assistant. Cohen, who has since earned the industry moniker "Queen of Screen" said, "I understood public records, the use of credit reports and had done reference checks myself for previous employers. I understood the costs and the process of doing it correctly. It occurred to me, 'I can do this.'"
The first few years for InfoMart were lean, but in 1995, when the company introduced a nationwide criminal reporting network of 3,000 counties, customers took notice. The company's proprietary, web-based system, WebASAP, was the first in the industry, allowing its network to submit background checks electronically.
In 2002, InfoMart built and moved into a 27,000-square-foot state-of-the-art headquarter building. One year later InfoMart helped found the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) - now the leading association for the industry.
In its 25 years, InfoMart has served tens of thousands of employers and has grown to be a multi-million dollar company with more than 100 employees, 1,500 contractors and vendors and 3,000 annual clients, including many Fortune 500 corporations. The company, and Cohen have received numerous awards since its founding including "Best Place to Work in Georgia" award, "Best and Brightest in Atlanta" award and Security Magazine's "Security 500" award.
