Inmar Hosts 20 Companies for Cloud Camp: The Conversation Is Changing
Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- Technology professionals from 20 companies gathered at Inmar on Friday, December 6 for Cloud Camp, a conference at which technology innovators share experiences, challenges and solutions associated with cloud computing. This is the third year that Inmar has served as the area host for this international conference.
The number of companies represented grew significantly this year, indicative of the rising utilization of cloud technology. Businesses across industries are recognizing the scale, flexibility and redundancy cloud-based solutions offer. At the same time, the technology requires all parties to think differently – from developers and architects to strategists. Cloud Camp provides a forum for such discussions.
The keynote speaker for the event was Michael Sylvia, Director, Advanced Technologies, Office of the CIO, IBM. Sylvia, who is responsible for IBM’s internal technical cloud strategy and the application of cloud computing, presented "Cloud Computing: Enabling Transformation @ IBM." In this talk, Sylvia described the IBM CIO experience with cloud computing, presented lessons learned (including the importance of choosing the right workloads for cloud). Other topics included “Managing vApp Construction,” presented by David Black of NetApp, and “Infrastructure Agility: Building SaaS at the Speed of Business,” which was presented by John Wheeler, a technical architect for Inmar.
“The conversations about Cloud computing are changing,” says Inmar CIO Mark Wright. “Business and technology professionals no longer discuss ‘What is cloud computing and why should I use it?’ rather we are discussing how it can be used to bring fast, flexible solutions to the marketplace.”
