Innovation to Lead at the 2015 NACHA Payments System Awards Luncheon at PAYMENTS 2015
Reston, VA (PRWEB) January 13, 2015 -- Former CEO of Southwest Airlines to Keynote on Creating Culture of Innovation; NACHA Now Accepting Nominations for 2015 Payments System Awards
NACHA — The Electronic Payments Association today announced a theme of innovation for its 2015 NACHA Payments System Awards Luncheon to be held during the PAYMENTS 2015 conference on April 19-22 in New Orleans, La. Howard Putnam, former CEO of Southwest Airlines, will keynote the awards luncheon with a talk on how to create a culture of innovation. NACHA also will recognize outstanding innovative achievements in the payments industry with the 2015 Payments System Awards, which are now open for nominations.
During this year’s awards luncheon sponsored by TD Bank, Putnam will discuss “Innovation: Creating a Culture and Process for Ideas to Hatch.” Putnam – an author, speaker and advisor on business issues, change, leadership and ethics – believes that organizations must embrace and foster a climate and culture for risk taking and idea implementation. He will share with attendees how this philosophy can work in their organizations.
“Innovation is a core theme of PAYMENTS 2015 and within the payments industry, as a whole,” said Janet O. Estep, president and CEO of NACHA. “Putnam, who will share lessons on how to create a cutting-edge and groundbreaking environment, is part of a powerful slate of speakers who will provide attendees with new ways of looking at their businesses. The overarching goal is for conference attendees to return to their organizations better equipped to set the agenda for the future and propel the industry forward.”
As CEO of Southwest Airlines, Putnam positioned and organized the company for growth and profitability by developing a flat management structure with decision making and idea development imbedded in every employee’s job scope and responsibility. He later became the first CEO to successfully restructure a major airline, Braniff International, through Chapter 11 bankruptcy. His previous professional experience also includes more than 20 years with United Airlines.
To celebrate innovative achievements within the industry, NACHA also will recognize this year’s recipients of the 2015 Payments System Awards at the luncheon. The George Mitchell Payments System Excellence Award, named after former vice-chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve George Mitchell, an early proponent of electronic payments, honors an individual or organization that has shown superior leadership in the development, implementation or advancement of electronic payments. The Kevin O’Brien ACH Network Award, named in honor of the late Kevin O’Brien, NACHA’s 1999-2000 chair, recognizes best practices in ACH participants’ efforts to maintain or improve the quality of ACH services and/or the integrity and reliability of the ACH Network.
All payments industry participants are invited to submit nominations for the 2015 Payments System Awards. NACHA is accepting nominations through February 27, 2015.
