Insala Mentoring SME to Discuss Mentoring for the Multigenerational Workplace at ATD 2015
(PRWEB) April 22, 2015 -- DALLAS/FT. WORTH - April 22, 2015 - Mentoring subject matter expert Judy Corner will lead a workshop at the ATD 2015 International Conference that will help attendees recognize and reduce multigenerational conflict and succession problems at their organizations by improving communication and knowledge transfer.
Ms. Corner's presentation comes at a time when four generations are working side by side in the workplace and transitioning into new roles, leading not only to frustration for HR when it comes to retaining institutional knowledge, but also to frustration among employees due to their different learning, communication, and working styles.
"This is an incredibly timely issue that no doubt everyone attending will be aware of. But practically, that awareness only goes so far in their jobs," says Ms. Corner, who has over 18 years of experience in providing mentor training workshops to a wide variety of organizations. "It's important for people to put into practice what we discuss during the session. These are very relevant issues, and it's time we talk less and do more about them."
Mentoring is a mostly untapped solution to help increase communication and knowledge transfer in the workplace, according to Ms. Corner, and directly results in not only the retention of invaluable institutional knowledge, but also higher levels of employee productivity. "While coaching and special projects are traditionally favored methods to develop employees who are director level and above, mentoring is method of not only passing along institutional knowledge and building the succession pipeline, but also breaking the communication and culture barrier between generations at the same time," says Ms. Corner.
The ATD 2015 International Conference will run from May 17 through 20 in Orlando, Fla. Ms. Corner's session, "Creating Opportunities: Mentoring for Multi-Generational Communication, Development, and Succession," will be held from 3:00 - 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 17 in room W104AB.
