Integrated Geophysics Corporation (IGC) Announces Completion of an Interpretation of the Structural Framework of the Eastern Seaboard
Houston, TX (PRWEB) December 11, 2014 -- Integrated Geophysics Corporation (IGC) (http://www.igcworld.com) announced today the successful completion of their Eastern Seaboard regional integrated interpretation package. Designed for oil and gas companies needing a First Pass Look at the regional tectonics and structural trends for this new frontier. The expert IGC team has reprocessed and interpreted the aeromagnetic profile data for enhanced results.
On July 18th of this year, President Obama signed the opening of the Eastern Seaboard to oil and gas exploration for the estimated 4.72 billion barrels of recoverable oil and 37.51 trillion cubic feet of natural gas that lies beneath federal waters from Florida to Maine. This area of the Atlantic has been closed to oil exploration since the 1980s.
The Eastern Seaboard represents a significantly under-explored frontier area and presently lacks any 3D seismic data. It is widely expected that drilling will commence in this deep water area in 2016/2017 and, as such, all companies seek to improve confidence in their leads and prospects by knowing more about the structural framework supporting their seismic activities. While seismic exploration remains the primary method for of exploring for petroleum, the use of gravity and magnetic methods (GM geophysics) has continued to support and substantiate lead targets. By gathering gravity/magnetic data to narrow the search area within large fields, exploration crews can refine their targets and apply seismic techniques more efficiently.
According to Corine Prieto, President of IGC, “Combining seismic with GM geophysics enables oil explorers to mitigate the high cost of seismic acquisition. We can define and focus seismic projects early on, and minimize the risk of conducting expensive investigation before potential is determined.”
