(PRWEB UK) 24 September 2013 -- The Telegraph has reported figures released by the Department for Work and Pensions, which show that the number of Spaniards applying for a National Insurance number has risen from just over 30,000 in 2011-2012 to more than 45,000 the following year. In a similar story, there were increases in the number of expats from Italy (up 35%) and Portugal (up 43%) during the same period. There was also a 44% rise in Greeks coming to Britain to work. Registrations for NI numbers are typically used to indicate the number of people entering the country from overseas to work in the UK. It comes as separate figures from The Office for National Statistics reveals that the number of people born outside Britain reached a record 7,679,000 last year.
