Interface's John Wells Joins Ray C. Anderson Foundation Advisory Board
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 10, 2013 -- John Wells, President and Chief Executive Officer of Interface Americas, a wholly owned subsidiary of Interface, Inc., has been appointed to join the Ray C. Anderson Foundation’s Advisory Board.
The announcement was made this week by John A. Lanier, director of the Ray C. Anderson Foundation.
“We are grateful to John Wells for his willingness to help advance Ray's legacy through the Foundation,” Lanier said. “John's enthusiasm, sharp intellect, and his role with Ray’s beloved Interface will add so much value to the group.”
“Ray Anderson’s legacy is a powerful gift that he left for us all to share,” said Wells. “The best way to honor him is to continue to progress with his vision. I’m honored to be able to do that through Interface, and now also through the Foundation that bears his name and his promise to future generations.”
Wells joined Interface in 1994, just months before Ray Anderson had his now-famous “epiphany,” and worked closely with Anderson to put the programs and metrics in place to help Interface achieve its sustainability mission.
Under Wells’ leadership, the Interface Americas business has expanded into an industry leader, providing modular carpet products to retail, hospitality, healthcare, education, and institutional/government segments, and also to consumers through the company’s retail brand, FLOR.
Through the years, Wells has been a champion in developing and articulating Interface’s Mission Zero™ brand promise both internally and to the world – a promise to eliminate any negative impact the company has on the environment by 2020.
In addition to his service on the Ray C. Anderson Foundation Advisory Board, Wells has served on the Carpet and Rug Institute’s (CRI’s) Board of Directors since 2005, and he was the CRI Board Chair in 2012. He serves on the Georgia Tech Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and in 2009, and has also served on the Board of Trustees for the Lovett School since 2010. He is a member of the Northside United Methodist Church of Atlanta. Wells is native of Dalton, Georgia. He and his wife Wendi reside in Atlanta with their two children, Brant and Audrey.
