International Conference on Democratizing Food Governance Hosted by The American University of Rome
Rome, Italy (PRWEB) September 10, 2016 -- The American University of Rome is hosting the International Conference on Democratizing Food Governance on 14 October 2016 at their main campus in Rome.
The Conference will focus on new forms of partnership and civic engagement emerging around food and sustainability as well as on the creation of public policy spaces at different scales where various types of actors may negotiate, deliberate and make decisions with the goal of enhancing the sustainable and democratic character of the food system.
Thematically, the Conference will explore:
• Sustainability, food security and new forms of governance
• Emerging new forms of coordination among local food initiatives at different scales
• Examples of networks and partnerships in the food economy: how they work; constraints and strengths; successes and failures.
• Public policies for place-based food systems.
Keynote speakers include Frank Baber, Professor, Environmental Science and Policy Program, and Director, Graduate Center for Public Policy and Administration, University of California, Long Beach and Terry Marsden, Chair of Environmental Policy and Planning, Director of the Sustainable Places Research Institute, Cardiff University. The discussant will be Colin Sage of University College Cork.
