International Journal of MS Care to Participate in Pubmed Central
Hackensack, NJ (PRWEB) December 18, 2013 -- The International Journal of MS Care (IJMSC)—the official peer-reviewed publication of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC)—has been accepted for inclusion in PubMed Central (PMC), a free electronic archive of full-text biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the US National Institutes of Health’s National Library of Medicine (NLM).
PMC, which launched in 2000, serves as a digital counterpart to the NLM’s print journal collection. It is a repository for journal literature deposited by participating publishers, as well as for author manuscripts that have been submitted in compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy and similar policies of other research funding agencies. Currently, nearly 3 million articles from over 4000 journals are archived in PMC.
Beginning in early 2014, the complete contents of each new issue of IJMSC will be deposited to PMC soon after publication and made available immediately to PMC users. Three years’ worth of back issues (going back to the Spring 2011 issue) will also be included in the PMC archive. Copyright to IJMSC material deposited in PMC will remain with the CMSC, and this will be clearly indicated to PMC users.
Depositing IJMSC content in PMC will make it more discoverable to researchers, health professionals, and the public. All articles archived in PMC are given a corresponding citation in PubMed, the NLM’s journal abstract database, which includes the MEDLINE subset. Citations and abstracts of all IJMSC articles will now be retrievable in PubMed through keyword and author searches and will include links to the full text in PMC and at the journal’s website at IJMSC.org.

This increased visibility should lead to wider citation of IJMSC articles, helping to advance research and clinical practice in multiple sclerosis and ultimately benefiting people with MS,” said Dr. Lael Stone, of the Cleveland Clinic, the Editor in Chief of IJMSC.
IJMSC is currently indexed in the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) and Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Source (EBSCO Publishing) and Scopus.
