International LiDAR Mapping Forum Launches 2014 Program
Portland, ME (PRWEB) November 26, 2013 -- The International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF), taking place from February 17-19, 2014 in Denver, Colorado, has launched a dynamic conference program for its 2014 event. With world-leading experts presenting the latest advances in LiDAR, the conference will place delegates one step ahead with knowledge of up-to-the-minute research and commercial developments.
The ILMF conference program reflects a market that is flourishing. Over 60 abstracts were submitted by major international contributors which were reviewed by the ILMF’s technical committee to produce a program that touches on new developments in all sectors of the industry. The three-day technical conference and exhibition focuses on airborne, terrestrial and bathymetric LiDAR with a particular emphasis on mobile mapping systems used to support transport, urban modelling, coastal zone mapping, utility asset management, 3D visualization and GIS applications. The full program with abstracts can be viewed here.
The program will include presentations on recent projects, with service providers describing real world examples of laser scanning in practice and sharing crucial lessons learned. One of the major benefits of ILMF is having the opportunity to discuss the state of the industry with peers, learn best practices and share ideas across the industry’s diverse business sectors. ILMF Director Lisa Murray said, “The Conference is focused on technology and how to maximize its performance for the benefit of the end user. The technical papers are being presented by world class speakers and businesses. Each paper is topical, wide-ranging and highly informative to delegates. Any professional at any level who is working in the geospatial community will find answers to their operational and management problems at ILMF. Whether you are involved in areas as diverse as urban and rural asset management, utilities maintenance, coastal and land mapping, railways, environmental impact assessment, 3D data capture and flood prevention, attending ILMF 2014 with industry colleagues and peers will prove a most informative and rewarding professional experience.”
The ILMF 2014 exhibition will have dozens of leading technology, software and service providers from around the world, adding extra benefits and value to the conference for all delegates. Exhibitors include the LiDAR and complementary sensor manufacturers, survey service companies, data processing, GIS and management specialists and the latest mobile mapping vehicles. In addition, there will be a series of technical workshops and live mobile mapping demonstrations to enable delegates to witness data capture methods in real time, and to learn about the latest advances in mobile and 3D capture applications, including integration with LiDAR and photogrammetry.
As in previous years, the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) will present ‘hot topics’ sessions which will provide an update on activities at the society associated with LiDAR and point cloud processing including presentation of the draft “ASPRS Accuracy Standards for Digital Geospatial Data.” Intended to be finalized in 2014, the new standards include accuracy thresholds for digital orthophotos and digital elevation data, independent of published map scale or contour interval.
Ms. Murray commented that the 2014 event will be fast-paced and informative for delegates at any stage of their professional career. She said that there will be numerous opportunities for networking with social events planned throughout.
Early Bird rates are available for delegates if they register by December 13, 2013. To take advantage of early registration, please visit https://www.xpressreg.net/register/ilmf024/start.asp.
About International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF)
International LiDAR Mapping Forum is the premier event for the LiDAR market, attracting professionals from all over the world. A major focus of this event is the three day world class Technical Conference, where speakers from the international LiDAR community will report on latest technology advances and recent projects, highlighting actual experiences and lessons learned in aerial, terrestrial and bathymetric LiDAR with a focus on mobile mapping. Another key component of the ILMF event is the international exhibition held alongside where dozens of leading companies in this rapidly growing global market will be showcasing new LiDAR products and a wide range of new technologies and services. Technical workshops are hosted by exhibiting companies and are aimed at providing operators, managers and potential purchasers of equipment with an understanding of the basic principles and fundamental benefits and technology associated with LiDAR while providing the more seasoned experts with up-to-date information on current developments.
