International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Announces 2015 “Awards of Distinction”
Champaign, Illinois (PRWEB) August 09, 2015 -- The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), the world leader in tree research, education and best tree care practices, has announced nine recipients for the 2015 Awards of Distinction, sponsored by Bartlett Tree Experts.
The Awards of Distinction were presented in a special ceremony on Sunday, August 9th, at the ISA 91st Annual International Conference and Trade Show, held in Orlando, Florida. The winners include:
• Daniele Zanzi — Award of Merit (Varese, Italy)

• Dr. Andrew Koeser — Early-Career Scientist Award (Apollo Beach, Florida, US)
• Greg Dahle — Early-Career Scientist Award (Morgantown, West Virgina, US)
• David Nowak — L.C. Chadwick Award for Arboricultural Research (Syracuse, New York, US)
• Dr. Nina Bassuk — Alex. L. Shigo Award for Excellence in Arboricultural Education (Ithaca, New York, US)
• Richard Harper — Award of Achievement (Amherst, Massachusetts, US)
• Mark Bridge — Millard F. Blair Exceptional Contribution to Practical Arboriculture Award (Basel, Switzerland)
• Daniel Diodati — Honorary Life Membership (Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
“This year’s recipients represent the many advancements in the field of arboriculture through education and technology,” said Mark Roberts, ISA board president. “These men and women are dedicating their lives to expanding knowledge and supporting the transfer of information worldwide.”
Some highlights of this group’s accomplishments include:
- Advocate for the international component of the ISA and spreading arboriculture education worldwide (Zanzi)
- Author of three popular arborist guide books and multiple technical articles that have been published in ISA publications (Luley)
- Mentor and advocate for students and continually works to educate new scientists and professionals entering the field of arboriculture (Dahle)
- Gifted in the ability to effectively present his research in technical publications and presentations demonstrating an understanding of the importance of technology transfer (Koeser)
- Paved the way for current research on assessment and quantification of ecosystem services provided by urban forests through participation in the Chicago Urban Forest Climate Project, and has impacted urban forestry research and policy through his work with i-Tree (Nowak)
- Influence on improving the quality of urban life by enhancing the functions of plants within the urban ecosystem (Bassuk)
- Instrumental in implementing an annual Arborist Certification Training program in his chapter for tree workers wishing to become ISA Certified Arborists (Harper)
- Combines his practical experience, training abilities, and equipment research to teach climbing and rigging techniques to thousands of arborists around the world (Bridge)
- Dedicated to making ISA publications and the latest in arboricultural research available to practitioners in the French-speaking world (Diodati)
