Intero Real Estate Services Creates a Culture of Giving Back
Cupertino, CA (PRWEB) January 23, 2015 -- The Intero Foundation (http://www.interofoundation.org), a non-profit organization benefiting children in need, started in 2002 by the founders of Intero Real Estate Services, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate and wholly owned subsidiary of HomeServices of America, Inc., announced that it has donated over $300,000 to over 35 different charities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area in 2014. This is part of the company’s mission to positively impact the growth and well-being of children in the communities they work and live in. Empowered by Intero agents and employees, the foundation has collected over $3.5 million for nonprofit organizations over the last twelve years. This also includes an endowment of nearly $1,000,000.
John Thompson, Intero’s Chief Operating Officer explains, “Agents donate a portion of their earnings from every home that is sold. As a company, this commitment makes a big statement. Therefore, when you drive by an Intero for sale sign or work with an Intero Realtor, you can feel good that at risk children in the community will be served and we thank each and every one of you for your support.”
In addition to the agents’ contributions, in 2014, Intero hosted a variety of fundraising events including their third annual Intero Day at the Giants, Hot Wheels for Kids, a car show benefiting the foundation that takes place at the company’s Saratoga office, Saratoga Eats, a mobile food trunk adventure and Intero’s newest fundraising events, Silicon Valley Gives and Giving Tuesday, both large online giving events that involved nonprofit organizations around the Silicon Valley and the world respectively. All of the money donated at these events goes directly to organizations that support kids throughout the Bay Area.
“Intero has always been passionate about making a difference in the communities we serve and since the beginning we have done this through The Intero Foundation,” says Tom Tognoli, President and CEO of Intero Real Estate Services, Inc.
Intero Foundation President, Cathy Jackson adds, “We are fortunate to have a culture, here at Intero, of people who care and are generous. Over the last decade, we’ve been able to get involved with the organizations we give to beyond just the monetary donation. Members of the Intero Foundation have volunteered for shopping trips, building bikes, and tutoring just to name a few. These engagements have allowed us to see the kids and the organizations grow to their full potential which is what pushes us to give even more.”
The Intero Foundation continues to impact the growth and well-being of children and youth in the communities they serve. In 2014, Intero gave back to the following organizations:
