Interview with Clarion Safety Systems on ANSI and ISO Standards Featured in Podcast Series with NEMA

Peckham, who serves as chair of both the ANSI Z535 Committee for Safety Signs and Colors and the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO Technical Committee 145 – Graphical Symbols, is interviewed in a two-part series to share his expertise on ANSI Z535.4 and ISO 3864-2 – and how their development and harmonization opens new global markets.

The first podcast, "ANSI Z535 and How it Revolutionized the Field of On-Product Warnings", discusses the publication of ANSI Z535.4 Standard for Product Safety Signs and Labels in 1991, and how the standard met the requirements of manufacturers across industries and products, as well as how its practical rules for content have led to today’s best practice labels.
The second podcast, "ISO 3864-2 and the Need for a Harmonized System of Product Safety Labels", discusses the publication of the international standard for product safety labels, ISO 3864-2 Graphical symbols – Safety colours and safety signs – Part 2: Design principles for product safety labels in 2004, and how it codified a global set of best practice, symbol-based product safety label formats to communicate safety to international audiences. Peckham also describes what triggered the need for the international standard and explains its harmonization with ANSI Z535.4.
