Intrinsic Imaging Awarded International Phase II Clinical Trial for Chronic Iron Overload
Boston, MA, San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) July 29, 2013 -- Intrinsic Imaging, an FDA audited, ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 13485 certified medical imaging core lab specializing in providing imaging core lab services for clinical trials, announced that it has been awarded a three year international Phase II clinical trial designed to evaluate a new therapy to treat patients suffering from chronic iron overload.
This three year multicenter clinical trial includes patients from Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East. Throughout this trial, Intrinsic Imaging will provide comprehensive imaging core lab services including imaging site qualification and training, provide image acquisition guidelines, process and review images for quality as well as perform specialized radiologic review and analysis of all images.
“The most common form of iron overload disease is Hemochromatosis which can be a life threatening disorder that can result in organ damage specifically within the liver, heart, and pancreas,” said Amit Mehta, MD, Chief Medical Officer, at Intrinsic Imaging. “While the majority of Hemochromatosis cases are genetic in origin, other non-genetic causes include anemia, alcoholism, and chronic transfusion therapy.”
Intrinsic Imaging has a team of more than sixty full time board-certified radiologists. Intrinsic Imaging’s radiologists assigned to this trial include subspecialized fellowship trained imaging experts with extensive experience in the evaluation of iron overload using MRI imaging of the liver and myocardium.
“Intrinsic Imaging radiologists have specialized training from some of the premier institutions in the world including Harvard, Yale, Stanford and Johns Hopkins,” said Todd A. Joron, BSc. MBA, President and Chief Operating Officer, Intrinsic Imaging. “Our operational and radiology teams have the experience and expertise to best assist this Sponsor in their development of an effective therapy for patients suffering from chronic iron overload.”
