Introducing BEAT100 Ultimate Musician: David Ross
(PRWEB) September 29, 2013 -- Recently named a BEAT100 Ultimate Musician, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist David Ross is currently making his way to the top of the BEAT100 World Music Chart for his cover of Mumford and Sons’ hit ‘Little Lion Man’. Originally from eastern Pennsylvania in the USA, the talented vocalist, pianist, drummer, and guitarist has spent the last five years in Nashville, Tennessee, taking advantage of the city’s music scene while honing his craft. “Nashville has been very exciting,” says David, “As a musician here, you have all the resources available to make recordings and perform, and probably meet some influential people.” Performing, recording, and releasing music as a solo artist and member of the pop and rock band, ‘Live by Satellite’, David is easily on his way to stardom.
Beginning his musical pursuits at age six with piano lessons, David says it wasn’t until his high school years when he really began to view music as a viable career options. “[In high school] I fully realized my passion for writing music, and coincidentally realized I could sing,” says David. While continuing his piano studies, David also picked up the drums, performing in his high school drum line, and guitar. However, he still considers piano his primary instrument. “It’s a fantastic instrument to get your grounding on… you can explore bass and treble rhythms simultaneously while easily experimenting with chords and scales,” says David. “Playing piano is like being a one man band!”
As a solo artist, David has released a seven song EP, ‘Move Yourself’, now available on iTunes, as well as two singles, ‘Summer Love’, and his cover of ‘Little Lion Man’. He’s also currently in the process of releasing new “electronic-inspired” material while collaborating with a number of producers and musicians. “It’s a great feeling to be able to move around at will and try something new musically whenever you feel inspired,” says David. In addition, David also writes music for television and film, recently completing the score for a couple of scenes from a documentary, ‘The Backyard Philly Project’, on Ferasha Films, as well as an indie film, ‘Man in the Box’ on Dynacore Films. “I love playing with string parts and ‘big’ sounding pads/ synths, as well as electronic rhythms,” says David. “This is somewhat of a dream of mine and something I hope to do much more of in the future.”
In addition to his solo career, David also maintains the position as keyboardist for ‘Live by Satellite’, a pop and rock band based in Nashville that he joined in 2012. “I was perusing Craiglist one day just to see what was out there and I came across an ad for a band seeking a keyboardist,” he says,” I responded to it and met there producer for coffee. Turned out he was a bit of a veteran in the engineering/mixing world and had worked with big names (Vintage Trouble, Chris Daughtry, and Marilyn Manson). You don’t usually find a gem like that on Craiglist.” David is currently working with the group on a debut full-length album, due in February, while also helping to plan an extensive band tour, including performances on military bases. “It’s been a wildy fun experience so far and should only get better from here,” he says.
With more than a handful of projects and new music releases in the works, David Ross is certainly an accomplished musician well deserving of BEAT100 Ultimate Musician status. He offers fellow BEAT100 members and fellow musicians some advice on achieving professional status: “Practice more! You can always get better at what you play and how you sing,” he says. “Equally important is to work within a team of people. Find people that can do engineering, that can design website, shoot videos… and just constantly be communicating with folks. Community is important.”
BEAT100 members can follow David Ross on the music video social network to view his videos, vote for his ‘Little Lion Man’ cover in the BEAT100 World Music Video Chart, and stay up-to-date on his solo releases, tour dates, and debut album release with ‘Live by Satellite’ in February. Musicians can join BEAT100 for free and upload their original or cover music videos to the BEAT100 World Music Chart for a chance at joining David Ross as a BEAT100 Ultimate Musician. “BEAT100 is just one of the coolest sites out there for artists. It’s honestly brilliant,” says David. “If you’ve got a music video, BEAT100 needs to be your arsenal of promotion methods.”
